Declared to Have S. Headquarters of Pomminryon Legalized

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- Ri Jong Rin, honorary chairman of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon), Kwon Rak Gi, co-representative of the Reunification Meeting, O Jong Ryol, permanent adviser of the Solidarity for Progress, and other pro-reunification activists and members of civic and public organizations in south Korea formed a committee for promoting the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Pomminryon in Seoul on August 14.

At the inaugural ceremony speakers said that Pomminryon has waged a dynamic struggle for peaceful reunification despite hardships and trials for the last two decades since its formation.

Independent and peaceful reunification is the unanimous desire of the nation, they said, calling upon the people from all walks of life supporting the June 15 joint declaration and Pomminryon to stage actions to open the gate of reunification by pooling their energies and wisdom.

They declared that they would hold multifarious functions, issue a white paper and organize a seminar, etc. on the occasion of the anniversary.

A declaration read out at the ceremony stated that they would foil the Lee Myung Bak regime's fascist suppression by the concerted efforts of the democratic forces and get the "National Security Law" repealed and the South Headquarters of Pomminryon legalized.

It also stressed that they would wage a vigorous struggle to firmly preserve and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and achieve the national reunification under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself."
