Lee Group's Suppression of Rev. Han Sang Ryol under Fire
Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet group conducted an intensive investigation into Rev. Han Sang Ryol, permanent adviser of the Solidarity for Progress, after arresting him on August 20 upon his return to south Korea from his visit to Pyongyang. This is brutal suppression of reunification and patriotism and unjustifiable anti-reunification act.

Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a signed commentary.

What Rev. Han did in Pyongyang was nothing but his call for implementing the north-south declarations to give continuity to the June 15 era of reunification, the commentary notes, and goes on:

His visit to Pyongyang commanded positive support and praise from all Koreans in the north and the south and overseas desirous of national unity and peace and reunification of the country.

The south Korean puppet group's brutal crackdown upon Rev. Han on charges of his Pyongyang visit was not targeted against him alone.

The Lee Myung Bak group cooked up the "Cheonan" case, a hideous anti-DPRK farce, bringing the inter-Korean relations to a total collapse and driving the situation to the brink of a war. This triggered off a strong protest among progressive organizations and personages which threw the Lee group into an extreme ruling crisis.

Much upset by this, the puppet group launched a merciless repressive campaign in a bid to weather the crisis and ensure stability of its power in the latter half of its office, labeling the forces standing for reunification through alliance with the north "pro-north leftist forces" and "forces subservient to the north." Meanwhile, this group is seeking to use Rev. Han's visit to Pyongyang as an excuse for totally stamping them out.

The Lee Myung Bak group had better halt at once its reckless suppression of pro-reunification figures, properly understanding the mind-set of the south Koreans and all other Koreans whose hearts are burning with hatred and resentment at it.
