The statement said that the joint military maneuvers are by no means a military demonstration of defensive nature or annual military exercises to avert someone's "threat" but an escalation of adventurous nuclear war exercises of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces to start an all-out war on the Korean Peninsula at any cost.

Due to the reckless military provocation by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces the situation of the Korean Peninsula is inching close to the brink of a war, seriously threatening the peace in the Korean Peninsula and other parts of Northeast Asia, it noted.

It strongly urged the U.S. to stop at once the frantic nuclear war exercises against the DPRK being staged with the Lee Myung Bak group of south Korea and respond without delay to the DPRK's proposal for concluding a peace treaty for durable peace on the Korean Peninsula.
