Present there were senior party, army and state officials, the chairpersons of the friendly parties, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People’s Internal Security Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media and working people in Pyongyang. Overseas Koreans and the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front were also present there.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, said in a report at the meeting that the five decade-long history of the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il represents a sacred course in which he has firmly protected the Songun idea and feats of President Kim Il Sung and comprehensively developed them in depth and shining annuals during which he provided a matchless military strength with his unique Songun politics and brought about epoch-making miracles and changes in the confrontation with the United States and other imperialists and in the building of a rich and powerful country thanks to a powerful military guarantee.

What is most brilliant among his Songun leadership feats is that he has developed in depth the Songun idea founded by the President in all fields, providing the most correct guidelines for the Songun revolution, the reporter said, and went on:

Kim Jong Il, on the basis of his clairvoyant wisdom and extraordinary scientific insight, formulated the philosophy on army that a revolution is started and advances and is brought to completion thanks to arms and the principle of Songun that an army precisely means a party, a state and people. He made a unique clarification of the issue of main force for a revolution for the first time in the history of the revolutionary movement and, on this basis, comprehensively expounded the idea and theory on the Songun politics.

Kim Jong Il has wisely led the army building and the overall revolutionary work by enforcing the Songun politics, putting main emphasis on the work with the army along with the party work already long ago, true to the noble intention of the President, thereby ushering in the era of prosperity of the Workers' Party through the drive for transforming man, nature and society as required by the Juche idea.

He steadily put the Songun revolutionary cause of Juche on a new higher stage, bringing about a great historic change in building a rich and powerful country.

The Songun revolutionary leadership, the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il as a genuine banner of patriotism and a banner of the struggle for independence against imperialism produced the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration which embody the idea of "By our nation itself", giving a powerful impetus to the nationwide movement for the country's reunification, helping further intensify the international solidarity with the Korean revolution and remarkably boosting the DPRK's international position and prestige.

The shining victories and changes that have taken place in the fields of politics, military affairs, economy, culture, national reunification and foreign relations despite all challenges of history clearly prove that the Songun revolutionary leadership, the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il serve as an invincible banner ushering in a new great era of the Juche-oriented revolution and an all-powerful treasured sword for transforming all the fields of the revolution and construction in a revolutionary manner.

The reporter underscored the need for all party members, servicepersons and other people to perform uninterrupted miracles and heroic feats in every site for building a thriving nation with strong national self-esteem and ardent patriotism.

We will wage a more dynamic struggle for implementing the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself" and steadily work hard to ensure that international support and solidarity with the revolutionary cause in the DPRK grow stronger in the idea of independence, peace and friendship.

The army and people of the DPRK will never tolerate any reckless moves of the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet group of traitors to provoke a nuclear war but launch a sacred retaliatory war of their own style based on nuclear deterrent any time they deem necessary as the toughest self-defensive measure to cope with them and thus mercilessly beat back the aggressors and surely accomplish the historic cause of national reunification.
