Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The government and people of the DPRK will as ever boost the solidarity and cooperation with the peoples of the non-aligned countries, creditably perform their duty as a member state of the Non-Aligned Movement and make every possible effort to strengthen the movement. Rodong Sinmun says this in a signed article Wednesday. It goes on: After becoming a full-fledged member state of the Non-Aligned Movement on Aug. 25, 1975, the DPRK has held its position in the ranks of the movement. This was a brilliant fruition of the foreign policy of the Workers' Party of Korea for independence and peace which embodied the immortal Juche idea of President Kim Il Sung and a striking demonstration of its validity and tremendous vitality. The DPRK's accession to the NAM helped it further raise its position and role in the struggle for peace, independence and sovereignty against imperialism and colonialism and made it possible for its people to win many more friends in the international arena as a result of which a more favorable international atmosphere was created for the Korean revolution. The NAM has grown to be a wide-ranging international movement grouping 118 countries at present and it serves as a powerful driving force of advancing the history of humankind. Today the imperialists' policy of aggression and war is rendering the overall international situation more complicated and tense. Independence and peace have been most wantonly violated in the international relations. Independence is what keeps each country and nation alive, and it is a main principle of the Non-Aligned Movement to preserve independence. The reality proves that if the non-aligned countries make joint efforts to consolidate the unity and cohesion of the movement, prompted by their stand to realize common purposes, they can successfully frustrate the imperialists' wicked moves to split and sow discord among them. No force on earth can block the advance of the non-aligned countries advancing under the uplifted banner of the NAM. |
