Zhang, while taking a stroll on the seaside on Aug. 15, found three girls being swept away by the waves rising all of a sudden from the waters where they were swimming.

In a minute, the girls were 60m off the shore and were crying out for help, all of them taking hold on a float.

Zhang together with Yuan Xingwang, his colleague, jumped into the rough sea at the risk of their lives and made desperate efforts to push them to the shore, braving rising waves and strong wind.

Zhang, very exhausted, asked his colleague to save the girls at any cost and pushed them to the shore as far as he could before being swept again by the rising waves.

The girls were rescued but he could not rise to the surface again.

His admirable deed clearly shows how deep the fraternity between the peoples of the DPRK and China is and how beautiful and noble the DPRK-China friendship steadily growing stronger generation after generation is.
