Start of Leadership at Kim Il Sung Univ. Marked

Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- A national seminar was held at the People’s Palace of Culture on Thursday to mark the 50th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of undying leadership at Kim Il Sung University. Present there were Choe Hui Jong, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, chairman of the Education Commission, officials of party and administration bodies and officials of scientific, educational and party cadre-training institutions and others. The seminar heard six papers explaining and proving the revolutionary exploits Kim Jong Il performed in the historic days of his revolutionary activities at the university, their greatness and others. Speakers referred to the immortal exploits he performed by laying an ideological foundation of single-minded unity centered on the leader and providing a sure guarantee for developing the WPK into an eternal party of the leader. Kim Jong Il started his Songun revolutionary leadership by giving historic field guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Guards Tank Division on August 25, Juche 49 (1960), they noted, adding that in his days at Kim Il Sung University he laid a solid ideological and theoretical foundation for formulating and systematizing the Songun politics as a unique political mode. They went on: As early as his days at Kim Il Sung University Kim Jong Il made sure that a new turn was brought about in the economic work and the drive to improve the standard of people's living and glorified the university as the highest seat of the Juche-based education. Recalling that thanks to the indefatigable efforts of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu the university has developed into the nation's centre for training native cadres and a prestigious university, they underscored the need to firmly preserve and carry forward the immortal revolutionary exploits of |
