First International Volleyball Referee

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- Jang Jong Hyang, a women's volleyball coach of the Pyongyang Sports Team, has become the first FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) referee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. She, 38, succeeded in the qualification examination of the refereeing delegation of the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship held in Indonesia from late June to early July. Earlier, she passed the candidate course held in May Juche 98 (2009). She began playing volleyball in her secondary school days and attracted experts' attention as an up-and-coming volleyballer in her teens. After graduating from Korea University of Physical Education, she became a coach. With rich experience and knowledge of foreign languages, she had been chosen as a candidate for international referee. Her refereeing ability has already been proved in domestic tournaments. |
