The meeting was attended by delegates elected by city and district party organizations, party organizations of units at different levels and party organizations of national institutions and city organs.

The meeting discussed the issue of electing delegates to the conference of the WPK.

Myong Son Yong, secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK who is a delegate of the party organization of Central District of Pyongyang, said in his speech proposing the election of leader Kim Jong Il as a delegate to the conference that he converted the country whose people were reduced to members of a stateless nation due to its weak army a century ago into a socialist military power which no enemy dares provoke and provided a strong military guarantee for the prosperity of the generations to come. His exploits would shine forever in the history of the country, Myong added.

He went on:

Kim Jong Il created a heroic epic of patriotic devotion by visiting every nook and corner of the country with his iron will and inexhaustible enthusiasm to enable the Korean people to appear in the world, their chests thrown out, making sure that a gun salute was fired to herald the start of the building of a thriving nation during the Arduous March, the forced march.

Kim Jong Il unrolled a series of bold and big operations to further spruce up Pyongyang and improve the standard of people's living and took benevolent measurers one after another in recent years. He visited many light industrial factories, universities and cultural and service establishments in the city in order to bring about a new turn.

He courteously proposed the election of Kim Jong Il as a delegate to the conference of the WPK, reflecting the unanimous wishes of all the party members and other people in the city.

Speakers at the meeting unanimously supported and approved the proposal.

A decision on electing Kim Jong Il as a delegate to the conference of the WPK was adopted at the meeting with a unanimous approval.
