National Art Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- A national art exhibition opened with due ceremony at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Friday to greet the conference of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 65th anniversary of its founding.

On display in the venue are more than 400 art works including Korean paintings, oil paintings, sculptures, jewel-powdered paintings, handicraft, embroideries and calligraphic works dealing with the great revolutionary exploits performed by the great persons of Mt. Paektu recorded in the sacred annals of the WPK and the heroic struggle of the army and people of the DPRK who performed miracles and exploits, united close around the Party, etc.

Sculpture "The great leader proclaiming the founding of the WPK", Korean painting "Putting forward them as masters of the Hwanghae Iron Works" and other works represent the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung in building the Party and his noble popular traits.

Also on display are Korean paintings and oil paintings and other works dealing with the personality of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as a great man who has developed the WPK into a powerful staff of the revolution and a genuine mother party and trained the People's Army as a matchless revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu with his outstanding leadership art and the noble traits of anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk who dedicated her all to the country and its people.

Displayed there are art works dealing with the army and people of the DPRK dashing ahead like the wind, bringing about great innovations and leap forward to build a thriving nation of Juche as early as possible, and the people enjoying all blessings of socialism under the care of the Party.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Vice-Premier Kang Nung Su, An Tong Chun, minister of Culture, officials concerned, art creators and working people and youth and students in Pyongyang.

Kim Ki Nam made an inaugural speech.

The participants looked round the art works on display.
