The work, published on Sept. 5, Juche 97 (2008), says that the six decade-long history of the DPRK is a history of great struggle and victory and a history of great creation and changes in which the Korean people have defended the independence and honor of the country and built the prosperous and powerful socialist state, braving the tempest of revolution under the guidance of the great leader and the great party. Expounded in it is the idea that even a small and underdeveloped country can turn into a developed and dignified power when it is guided by the great leader and the great party.

The work also indicates the task and ways for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche under the banner of the Juche idea, the banner of Songun.
