Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- The Tokyo District Court of Japan ruled on August 30 that Tokyo Metropolis should compensate for the search operations conducted by the Security Department of the Metropolitan Police Office against the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and its related facilities. When a Korean woman in Japan tried to carry with her medicines for her own use during her visit to the homeland by Mangyongbong-92 the Security Department brought against her "the charge of violating the law on medicines" on November 27, 2006. Under this pretext it perpetrated reckless search operations against the above-said headquarters and six other offices. This was one more smear campaign to tarnish the image of the DPRK and Chongryon, escalate the suppression of Koreans in Japan and achieve a political aim. Chongryon organizations including its Shibuse Branch and the Korean Song and Dance Ensemble in Tokyo filed a suit against Tokyo Metropolis governing the above-said department in demand of compensation. At the hearing on this case the Tokyo District Court of Japan ruled that the search operations conducted against Chongryon-related facilities were a violation of the Constitution and the Criminal Procedure Law, demanding that Tokyo Metropolis pay damages to the Shibuse Branch of Chongryon, the Korean Song and Dance Ensemble in Tokyo and two officials of Chongryon. |
