The National Physical Prospecting Team, the National Mineral Resources Survey Team and the South Hamgyong Provincial Prospecting Bureau have reconfirmed the tectonics and deposits in Komdok area by modeling ore body on the basis of IT technology.

Geological survey teams under the North Hamgyong Provincial Prospecting Bureau have found out new coal and ore fields with large deposits in some areas of the province.

The South Hwanghae Provincial Prospecting Bureau has concentrated manpower and machines on prospecting districts to successfully confirm mineral deposits through detailed surveys.

Large coal deposits have been explored in South Phyongan Province, too.
