General Secretary Kim Jong Il manifested his unshakable will to venerate Kim Il Sung, who performed distinguished feats for the country and the people and for the world and humanity, as the sole and eternal President in the history of Korea.

Thanks to the leader's infinite fidelity and moral obligation, the socialist constitution was revised and renamed Kim Il Sung Constitution at the 1st Session of the 10th Supreme People's Assembly held on September 5, Juche 87 (1998) to codify his Juche-based ideas and feats concerning the state building.

In the preface the constitution stipulates that the presidency of the DPRK is the title proper to
Kim Il Sung only and that he will always remain the President of the Republic.

The unique constitution reflects the unanimous will and desire of all the Korean people, including the servicepersons, to respect him for all ages as founder of socialist Korea and eternal President of the Republic.
