The ssirum (Korean wrestling) tournament including two events, body-weight and catch-weight, will be participated in by some 100 players selected from eleven provinces and municipalities.

A grand bull and a gold cowbell will go to the winner of the catch-weight event.

The top favorite for the prize is Ri Jo Won from North Phyongan Province who won the catch-weight event at the 7th tournament held last year.

But it is hard to foresee the tournament's results as lots of fine players have come out from different areas of the country.

The open-weight event will start on the afternoon of Sept. 14 after the windup of the body-weight event.

In the past seven tournaments players from Pyongyang won six.

As of August 26, the weight of the grand bull was 950 kilograms.
