Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- Jilin City, China, is one of the places connected with the revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung. During his early revolutionary activities he stayed in the city to train young Korean people as core revolutionaries. After forming Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) in Huadian in October Juche 15 (1926), he moved to the city in January 1927 to carry on revolutionary activities in an extensive way, while studying at Jilin Yuwen Middle School. He studied progressive ideas through revolutionary books and disseminated them among youth and students. He legally formed the Korean Children's Association in Jilin and reorganized the Ryogil Association of Korean Students in Jilin, a friendly society of students sponsored by nationalists, as the Ryugil Association of Korean Students to bring up Korean students in a revolutionary way. He also reorganized the DIU as the Anti-imperialist Youth League in August 1927 with its branches in various areas and then formed the Young Communist League of Korea. A large number of young Korean people, rallied around him on the basis of revolutionary fidelity and comradeship, became revolutionaries responsible for the destiny of the country and nation. The President successfully led the struggle against the Jilin-Hoeryong railway project of the Japanese imperialists and campaign to boycott Japanese goods in some 40 days from the latter part of October 1928. Arrested by police in autumn of 1929, he continued the struggle in Jilin prison until early May 1930, maturing a far-reaching plan of the Korean revolution. When visiting Jilin City in last August, General Secretary Kim Jong Il expressed deep thanks to the Chinese party, government and people for well preserving historical relics related with the President's revolutionary activities. |
