Rehabilitation Brisk in Flood-afflicted Areas
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Some areas of the DPRK were hard hit by torrential rain and typhoon No. 7 in August and early in September.

Many dwelling houses, public establishments and production-related buildings and some roads, bridges and railroads, etc, in North Phyongan, Kangwon, Jagang and South Hwanghae provinces and other areas were destroyed or submerged and farmlands came under silt or washed away

Rehabilitation is now brisk in these areas.

Rehabilitation commands were formed in the relevant provinces. They are now dynamically pushing ahead with the work to bring the living of the population there to normal as soon as possible while giving priority to the supply of cement, structural steel and other materials.

North Phyongan Province is now more qualitatively reconstructing the destroyed structures including the objects directly related to the people's living.

People in Kangwon and Jagang provinces have rebuilt dwelling houses and public establishments and reconstructed seriously damaged various sections of railroads and roads cut off by landslide, ensuring the smooth train service and road traffic.

Meanwhile, officials and working people in the fields of power distribution, post and tele-communication and water supply and drainage in the afflicted areas succeeded in restoring the destroyed power network, post and tele-communication and water service facilities in a short span of time through a dynamic campaign.

Water pumps in different counties of South Hwanghae Province including Jaeryong, Sinchon and Kangryong counties have operated at full capacity, drawing out dead water from thousands of hectares of inundated paddy and non-paddy fields. A work is also making rapid progress to rehabilitate set-ups in rivers and streams.
