End to S. Korean Anti-reunification Policy Urged
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- It is impossible to achieve national reconciliation and unity and the cooperation and exchange between the north and the south nor is it possible to expect any progress in the movement for national reunification and peace on the Korean Peninsula as long as the south Korean conservative group is allowed to pursue its policy for confrontation with fellow countrymen, the policy intended to chill the south Korean people's desire for independent reunification and block the development of the movement for national reunification.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes this in a signed article.

It goes on:

The above-said policy is a clear manifestation of the conception hostile to the compatriots and the root cause of sowing the seeds of antagonism and discord among Koreans and driving the inter-Korean relations to a collapse. It runs diametrically counter to the trend of the June 15 era of reunification and the desire of all Koreans for the improved inter-Korean relations.

The act of antagonizing compatriots is prompted by a treacherous attitude of considering compatriots as the targets of confrontation and aggression not as the objects for reconciliation and unity. Any act to do harm to compatriots, regarding them as an enemy, merely because of the differing ideology and system, cannot but spark off confrontation and military conflicts between the north and the south.

Should the south Korean authorities persistently pursue such despicable policy of confrontation as "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars" unanimously rebuffed and denounced by all Koreans, this will bring the distrust and confrontation between the north and the south into a bottomless mire and finally drive the inter-Korean relations into an inescapable collapse.

It admits of no further argument that the south Korean authorities' behavior of depending on the cooperation with outside forces and giving priority to them is quite contrary to the trend of the June 15 era of reunification.

It is the desire of the times and wishes of the people to see a switchover in the policy of confrontation with compatriots in south Korea.

Should its ruling forces stand in the way of improving the inter-Korean relations, persistently pursuing the above-said policy, they will not be able to escape the fate of being rebuffed and condemned by history and the people for being traitors to the nation.
