Story of Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, September 24 (KCNA) -- One day in November Juche 89 (2000), General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited a newly built potato starch factory. Going round the production processes of the factory, he came to know that the factory was operated only 60 days in a year. He said that in capitalist countries such factories were run only in the potato season for the sake of profits but here in Korea the factory had been built to provide better dietary conditions to the people. He also said if the factory had been operated 60 days only to produce potato starch, it could not be called a factory for the people. He then suggested that processes be added to the factory to turn out dehydrated noodle and syrup with starch produced by itself. The officials accompanying him were deeply moved by his deep concern for the people's diet. |
