Int'l Film Festival Closes
Pyongyang, September 24 (KCNA) -- The 12th Pyongyang International Film Festival that opened on September 17 was closed with due ceremony at the People's Palace of Culture on Friday.

Present there were Kang Nung Su, vice-premier, Hong Kwang Sun, chairman of the State Film Commission who doubles as chairman of the festival organizing committee, Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, officials concerned, creators and artistes in the field of film and working people in the city.

Also present were delegations and delegates of various countries including the DPRK, those of overseas Koreans and members of international jury.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys and embassy officials of various countries and members of missions of international organizations here.

Results of examination of the films presented to the festival were published to be followed by an awarding ceremony.

The results of examination are as follows:

Top film prize: Chinese film "Walking to School"

Production prize of feature film: Iranian film "Wind Blows in the Meadow"

Literature prize of feature film: German film "Lila, Lila"

Cameraing prize of feature film: French film "Cartagena"

Prize for best actor of feature film: main actor of Russian film "A Man at Home"

Prize for best actress of feature film: main actress of Italian film "Bets and Wedding Dresses"

Art prize of feature film: Russian film "A Man at Home"

Music prize of feature film: British film "The Damned United"

Technology prize of feature film: Italian film "Bets and Wedding Dresses"

Production prize of documentary and short film: Greek documentary "Gaza We are Coming"

Composition prize of documentary and short film: Chongryon (The General Association of Korea Residents in Japan) documentary "Never Gave up the Future"

Cameraing prize of documentary and short film: Chinese short film "The Hands"

Special prize of the international jury committee of the festival: Polish feature film "Born of the Sea"

Special prize of the festival organizing committee: Indian feature film "For Real"

: Korean-French feature film "Moranbong"

Prizes for special show were awarded to feature films of Russia, French, China and the DPRK, German documentary and others.

A letter to General Secretary Kim Jong Il presented by the participants of the festival was adopted there.

Hong Kwang Sun in his closing address expressed the belief that the unity and cooperation among the world progressives and moviemen who advocate the idea of independence, peace and friendship and aspire after development of genuine films would further strengthen and develop in the future, too.
