Achievements Made in Pushing Back Frontiers of Science and Technology

Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- Light comedy "Echo of Mountain", winner of Kim Il Sung prize, had been staged in different parts of the country till late in September since it raised its curtain in Pyongyang in April, immensely encouraging the people in our era. The light comedy, another monumental masterpiece representing the Songun era, aroused the Korean people to the drive for building a thriving nation. The officials and people in all fields of the national economy in the DPRK waged a high-pitched drive to push back the frontiers of the latest science and technology amid the hot wind raised by the light comedy sweeping across the country. In this course they prepared valuable gifts to be presented to the 65th birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea and the WPK conference to be specially recorded in the history of the country. The workers of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex pushed back the frontiers of the latest science and technology in the field of metallurgical industry, keeping the production of Juche iron going at a high rate. Achievements were made in the construction site of the Huichon Power Station and the Taegyedo Tideland covering 8,800 hectares was reclaimed on the west coast. The Songun Foundry and the Songun Compressor Shop were newly built on the basis of modern science and technology at the Ryongsong Machine Complex, bringing about a fresh turn in casting irons and producing compressors. The workers of the Chollima Steel Complex completed the UHP electric arc furnace No. 2 earlier than scheduled while those of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex manufactured a new type electric locomotive based on cutting-edge technology by waging the high-pitched drive for effecting a great surge. Achievements were also reported from other fields amid the "Echo of Mountain". A great many monumental edifices in the era of great surge sprang up and power bases were completed in different parts of the country. A nine-axis turning machining centre, the latest CNC-based machine tool, was successfully manufactured to lay a firm foundation for rapidly developing the nation's industry as a whole including ship-building industry and space and air industries. A high-pitched drive was waged in the fields of agriculture and light industry, too, to bring about a great surge. At least 3,000 valuable inventions and new technological achievements have been made in the course of young people's nationwide march for developing science and technology. The on-going grand march, an embodiment of the work style taught by the light comedy, once again proves that the DPRK will tower high in the world by pushing back the frontiers of the latest science and technology in all fields. |
