Noting that at the Sixth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in October 1980, President Kim Il Sung set forth the proposal for reunifying Korea by founding a federal republic on the condition that the north and the south recognize and tolerate each other's ideas and social systems, the statement described the formula of federation as the most just reunification proposal.

It said that the proposal for reunification by means of federation fully conforms to the actual conditions of the north and the south of Korea and also favors the interests of the countries concerned.

Acknowledging the DFRK founding proposal as the most reasonable way for Korea's reunification, the association expresses full support and solidarity with the Korean people in their efforts to reunify the country by means of federation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, the statement stressed.
