DPRK to Remain True to Noble Aim of Group 77
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK Pak Kil Yon, who headed the DPRK delegation to the meeting of foreign ministers of the Group-77 held at the UN Headquarters on Sept. 28 on the sidelines of the 65th UN General Assembly, said that a series of changes that have taken place in the international economic relations in recent years go to prove that the Group-77 was right when it took an option to positively promote the establishment of a fair economic order.

He referred to the fact that the just efforts of the member nations to develop national economies and protect sovereignty are facing serious challenges and the rich are getting ever richer while the poor ever poorer as the days go by worldwide, adding that developing countries are the victims of the world-wide financial, economic and food crises, he deplored, and went on:

It is the top-priority target of the Group-77 to establish fair international economic relations.

It is impossible to settle the world-wide financial and economic crises unless the structural contradictions of the unfair international economic relations are eliminated.

The UN is required to take practical measures to implement the resolution on "the desire for a new international economic order" adopted at the 64th UN General Assembly on the initiative of the Group-77.

The Group-77 should continue leading the efforts of the countries of NAM to expand and strengthen South-South cooperation.

It should continue sincerely implementing the action programme for South-South cooperation and projects already adopted, regarding it as firm guidelines to boost South-South cooperation and thus make a positive contribution to the economic development in the countries of NAM.

The DPRK government will remain true to the noble objective and mission of the Group-77 to establish a new international economic order based on the justice, equality and impartiality in the future, too.
