Nigerian Ambassador Hosts Reception
Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Yusuf Amuda Abubakar, Nigerian ambassador to the DPRK, Friday hosted a reception on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the independence of Nigeria.

Present there on invitation were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Ri Ryong Nam, minister of Foreign Trade, Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, officials concerned and diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of international organizations here.

On hand were staff members of the Nigerian embassy.

The Nigerian ambassador said in his speech that since the opening of the diplomatic relations the two countries have supported each other as regards international issues.

Noting that the bilateral relations have further developed thanks to the exchange of visits by high-level delegations, he stressed that the Nigerian people positively support the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the peaceful reunification of the country.

He extended warm congratulations to the Korean people on the successful holding of the Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Yang Hyong Sop in his speech referred to the fact that over the last half century, the Nigerian people have registered great successes in the efforts to consolidate the national unity and achieve the independent development and economic prosperity of the country.

He said that the DPRK and Nigeria have closely supported and cooperated with each other in accomplishing the common cause of building a prosperous new world.

The Korean people will as ever make efforts to boost the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, he stressed.
