The statement noted that he extended warm congratulations to General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the ever-victorious WPK on the occasion of the anniversary of the WPK.

It went on:

The 65 year-long history of the WPK is a glorious course in which it has turned the DPRK into a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence, and led Korean-style socialism and the human cause of independence to shining victory despite all sorts of trials.

The WPK having Kim Jong Il as its general secretary has demonstrated its dignity as the eternal party of President Kim Il Sung and led the Korean revolution to steady victory and the Korean people have set a world-wide example in the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the country.

We voice full support and solidarity with the WPK and the Korean people in their just cause, expressing firm belief that the WPK and the army and the people in the DPRK would achieve greater success in their efforts to reunify the country and build a thriving nation under the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Il.
