Thorough Implementation of Oct. 4 Declaration Called for

| Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The Academic Headquarters and the Media Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration held a joint academic seminar in Seoul on September 30 on the occasion of the third anniversary of the publication of the October 4 declaration. Speeches were made at the seminar to be followed by the publication of a resolution. The resolution said that the present inter-Korean relations were brought back to those in the past era of confrontation, adding that had the authorities thoroughly implemented the October 4 declaration, such painful developments as what Koreans see at present would not have happened. In order to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula the U.S. should lift the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK and the Lee Myung Bak regime should stop the moves to escalate the confrontation with it, the resolution held. It urged the authorities to actively come out to resume the tour of Mt. Kumgang and the Kaesong area and achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula. |
