The two parties in the statement stressed the need to regard the inter-Korean joint declarations as the immutable reunification programmes, firmly support, defend and implement them despite any change in the situation and make utmost efforts to save the inter-Korean relations from the present collapse.

The two parties will conduct a positive peace movement against war in order to foil the reckless war maneuvers of the warmongers at home and abroad and build a peace-keeping regime on the Korean Peninsula this year, the third anniversary of the publication of the October 4 declaration, at a time when the military confrontation and the danger of war are escalating on the peninsula as the days go by, the statement said, and went on:

The two parties will categorically reject the outsiders' interference in the internal issues of the Korean nation and their obstructions and boost solidarity and cooperation in the efforts for independent reunification and the interests and prosperity common to the nation in the idea of "By our nation itself", the basic spirit of the inter-Korean joint declarations.

The present stern reality goes to prove that acts of negating and going against the inter-Korean joint declarations will create only distrust and confrontation between compatriots and the prospect of national prosperity can hardly be expected.

We ardently call upon all the fellow countrymen in the north and the south and abroad to turn out as one in a nationwide struggle to defend and implement the inter-Korean joint declarations, aware that the destiny of the nation hinges on the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.
