DPRK in Festive Mood over Kim Jong Il's Reelection

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The news that Kim Jong Il was reelected general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea has enveloped the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in great pleasure. As soon as the news was reported on Sept. 28 young people of Pyongyang gave art performances to offer heartfelt congratulations to him on his reelection, singing of the fortune of Kim Il Sung's Korea and the great honor of its people greeting a signal event of the country and the nation. That day, youth and students gathered in different parts of the city, including the Arch of Triumph Square, to have dancing parties demonstrating their determination to strive for the prosperity of the country under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. Servicepersons held a rally on Sept. 29 to strikingly display their strong will to defend Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il at the cost of their lives and definitely guarantee the building of a thriving nation with arms, remaining faithful to the Songun leadership of the WPK. Pyongyang citizens from all walks of life, more than 150,000 in all, gathered at Kim Il Sung Square on Sept. 30 and vowed to work hard to accelerate the building of a socialist thriving nation and the revolutionary cause of Juche with a great pride of keeping Kim Jong Il at the head of the Party, the army and the state. Youth and students, workers, peasants and women met separately to pledge to be true to the Songun revolution, closely united around Kim Jong Il. Colorful celebrations have been held in all parts of the country, including provincial seats. |
