Korean in Japan Grabs World Pro-Boxing Championship

| Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- DPRK Merited Athlete Ri Ryol Ri, a Korean pro-boxer in Japan, won the world pro-boxing title by beating his Thai rival Poonsawat, world pro-boxing title holder, by a decision in a match for the title of the WBA Super Bantam Weight held in Tokyo on October 2. Ri had a hot match with his Thai rival as the latter had a record of 41 victories and a single defeat in his 42 matches. Ri put his rival on the defensive from the start of the match by successive punches, powerful straight punches, upper-cut and stubborn defence, etc., gaining good points in every round. Ri thus finished the match 3:0 by a decision. |
