Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- One winter day in Juche 28 (1939), a unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army led by President Kim Il Sung stayed in Barengou, Antu County. Anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk prepared rice cakes together with other servicewomen. On the previous night, President Kim Il Sung said he was afraid that the soldiers felt somewhat hungry. When they were about to put completed rice cakes in vessels, the enemy suddenly attacked the village from all sides. As ordered by the President, the unit quickly left the village and climbed a mountain at the back of the village without harm. But Kim Jong Suk ran back to the village through the hail of the enemy's bullets. Reaching the house where rice cakes were prepared, she wrapped them in a cloth and escaped from the village, risking her life for a meal of other soldiers. Thanks to her devoted effort, they took rice cakes after finishing the battle. |
