Fork Road to Mangyongdae

Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- The fork where a road to Mangyongdae in Pyongyang branches off is a witness to President Kim Il Sung's distinguished greatness and patriotic devotion. On October 9, Juche 34 (1945) the President had his car stopped when it reached the fork on his way to the then Kangson Steel Plant. The road leads to his native place where his grandparents were eagerly waiting for him. During the anti-Japanese war he had always missed his old home and grandparents so much. But he went to the plant, postponing his visit to the native place. At the plant he met with workers who had been maltreated during the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule, and encouraged them to turn out in the rehabilitation of the plant and play a pivotal role in the building of a new country, feeling responsible for the destiny of the nation. Inspired by his trust, the workers of the plant restored furnaces in a short span of time to contribute to the state building. After his first field guidance to the plant he visited it many times along with the developing revolution to bring about an eye-opening miracle in the steel production. The fork to Mangyongdae had been considered to be a sacred road associated with the President's desire for the building of a thriving nation. |
