On display in the venue of the meeting were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and photos on the theme of "Under the Guidance of the WPK".

Mozgovoi, acting first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Soviet Union, delivered a report at the meeting to be followed by speeches by Yuri Vanin, first vice-chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, and other figures.

The reporter and speakers said that Kim Jong Il's reelection as general secretary of the WPK was the great honor and happiness of the members of the Communist Party of Soviet Union and other world progressives and warmly congratulated him on his reelection.

They recalled that the President gave an origin to the construction of a revolutionary party of Juche type during the hard-fought anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, laid an organizational and ideological foundation for founding the party and founded the WPK on its basis.

The genuine Korean-style socialist system centered on the popular masses has grown strong under the wise leadership of the WPK founded by the President and led by Kim Jong Il, they said.

They expressed the belief that the Korean people would fling open the gate to a thriving nation in 2012 without fail under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Congratulatory messages to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meeting.

A meeting was held in Switzerland, a lecture given in Sweden, a Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition was opened with due ceremony in Bulgaria and a film show was held in Peru on Sept. 25 and 30 on the occasion of the 65th birthday of the WPK.
