"Arirang" Performance Given

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", winner of Kim Il Sung Prize, was given at the May Day Stadium on Saturday to congratulate the 65th birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea. General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed the performance. Appreciating the performance were senior party, army and state officials, delegates to the national celebrations of the 65th birthday of the WPK, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, service persons of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, officials of scientific, educational, cultural and art and public health and media institutions, heroes and heroines, those related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, bereaved families of revolutionary martyrs, persons of distinguished services and working people. Also enjoying the performance were congratulatory groups, delegations and visiting groups of overseas compatriots, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-imperialist National Democratic Front, a delegation of the Communist Party of China on an official goodwill visit to the DPRK, the delegations and delegates of the groups for the study of the Juche idea, diplomatic envoys of foreign countries, representatives of international organizations here and foreign guests. The performance began as letters reading "Greatest Homage to Great Leader, Founder of Our Party" and "Highest Glory to Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il" were presented in succession on the background and the ground turned into waves of flowers and sea of dancers. The performance made a vivid representation of the 65 year-long history of the WPK and the history of victory and glory of Kim Il Sung's nation that made its majestic appearance on the international arena under the leadership of the great leader and the great party through dynamic and attractive gymnastic movements, beautiful and elegant art performance and ever-changing background scenes. |
