The DPRK is now wrapped in an elated festive atmosphere as General Secretary Kim Jong Il was reelected as general secretary of the WPK, the statement said, and went on:

The WPK founded on Oct. 10, 1945 has its historical roots in the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle led by President Kim Il Sung.

The revolutionary traditions established during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle serve as an eternal foundation of the WPK and the DPRK.

The WPK achieved the unity of its ranks in idea and will and the single-minded unity of the whole society on basis of the Juche idea.

The WPK has registered immortal feats to shine long in history over the last 65 years, firmly adhering to the principle of independence under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea, the Songun idea.

Under the leadership of the WPK, socialism in the DPRK has won one victory after another despite the ceaseless moves of the U.S. imperialists and world reactionaries to stifle it.

The DPRK has turned into a bulwark of socialism in the world and the Korean people have achieved great successes in building a thriving nation with each passing day.
