The statement recalled that President Kim Il Sung set forth the proposal at the 6th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and this marked a historic event in the struggle for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

Noting that this proposal fully embodies the principle of national independence, great national unity and the principle of democracy, the statement added that the WPK and the government of the DPRK have made big efforts to put the proposal into practice.

The organization urges the U.S. to pull its forces out of south Korea and dismantle its military bases there and the south Korean authorities to halt their anti-DPRK confrontation racket and roll back their pro-U.S. sycophantic policy and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as specific actions for materializing the above-said proposal, the statement concluded.
