Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The 84th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) is coming nearer in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The tradition of the DIU, provided by President Kim Il Sung, is the origin of the Korean revolution, a glorious symbol of its history and the lifeline of Songun Korea. The President, who started revolutionary activities in his early years, organized the DIU, a new vanguard of the Korean revolution, on October 17 Juche 15 (1926). The formation of the DIU was a starting point of the founding of a Juche-typed revolutionary party, its anti-imperialist fighting spirit constituted a basis of Songun politics and its program for socialist construction became the fundamental ideal of the revolution. The Workers' Party of Korea, carrying forward the DIU tradition, has set a splendid model in accomplishing the cause of the popular masses' independence and the cause of socialism through a protracted and arduous revolution. The President, who inherited two pistols from his father along with far-reaching aims of the revolution, prepared young people as core members of an armed unit-to-be under the banner of the DIU and provided a true model in building revolutionary armed forces, deeply aware that the revolution should be carried on with arms. The formation of the DIU also put an end to the distress-torn history of factional strife and split-up and ushered in a new history of single-mined unity. This feat of the DIU served as a precious treasure for completing the revolutionary cause of Juche and a basic source of Korean socialism's great viability. The DIU tradition has been carried forward successfully by leader Kim Jong Il through generations and centuries. |
