Birthday of WPK Marked in Different Countries

Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Meetings took place in Russia, Norway and Austria on Oct. 7 and 8 to congratulate Gweneral Secretary Kim Jong Il on his reelection as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and its 65th birthday. Displayed in the venues of the meetings were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and photos showing the immortal exploits they performed in leading the party building and pictures introducing the successes made by the Korean people in building a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation. Speeches were made at the meetings. The first secretary of the Khabarovsk Territorial Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation said that Kim Jong Il's reelection as general secretary of the WPK represented the absolute support and trust of the Korean people in him. The chairperson of the Communist Party of Norway expressed belief that the Korean people would surely emerge victors in accomplishing their socialist cause under the distinguished Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, reiterating the will to extend full support and solidarity to the Korean people in their just cause in the future, too. The chairperson of the Consultative Committee of the Society for the Promotion of the Relations between Austria and the DPRK noted that the society would make positive efforts to develop the relations between the two countries. A meeting was held in Cuba on Oct. 7 on the occasion of the 65th birthday of the WPK. The head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba said in a speech at the meeting that the party supports the steadfast stand of the WPK to defend the idea and system chosen by it, declaring that the CPC would support and encourage the Korean people in their just cause of protecting the nation's sovereignty and achieving the country's reunification in the future, too. Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the meetings held in Norway and Austria. |
