Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard:

The south Korean military warmongers kicked off the above-said air battle exercises with the U.S. imperialists right after their provocative PSI exercises came to a close. This is an intolerable provocation to the DPRK and a blatant challenge to the desire of the Koreans to see the inter-Korean relations improved and the need of the times.

The south Korean authorities claim that the said exercises are aimed at countering "provocations" from someone, but they are, needless to say, designed to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK in the light of their scale and programs.

The puppet military is spearheading the exercises now under way in the air over the western part of the Korean Peninsula with combined air forces of south Korea and the U.S. involved. Herein lies a dangerous military purpose.

The provocations now being perpetrated by the south Korean military warmongers under the pretext of the "Cheonan" case have reached an extremely reckless phase.

This once again brings to light the conservative group's intention to realize its ambition for invading the DPRK at any cost, backed by outside forces.

The reality goes to prove that the south Korean authorities are not interested in improving the inter-Korean relations and reunifying the country at all but are keen only on escalating the confrontation with compatriots.

The south Korean authorities would be well advised to face up to the trend of the times and halt at once the dangerous saber-rattling pushing the inter-Korean relations into extremes.
