Symposium on Light Comedy "Echo of Mountain" Held

Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- A symposium of Juche-oriented idea of literature and art on the light comedy "Echo of Mountain", winner of Kim Il Sung prize, took place on Thursday. Present there were Kim Pyong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and Arts of Korea, officials concerned, creators, artistes, journalists and editors in the fields of dramatic art and media and teachers, researchers and students of universities. The floor was taken by Prof. and Dr. Ko Chol Hun, director of the Juche Literature Institute of the Academy of Social Science of the DPRK, Prof. Song Yong Hun, researcher at Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts, and others. They said that the light comedy electrified all the servicepersons and people in their advance for effecting a great surge, making its strong spirit sweep throughout the country. Noting that the light comedy has displayed its great vitality for nearly five decades for its great influence and high cognitional and instructive value, they stressed that it is a masterpiece of the era as it teaches immutable truth of life and a work listed as national treasure as it serves as a good textbook in the ideological education of the servicepersons and people in the DPRK. It is one of the achievements gained by the light comedy that it makes a truthful and optimistic representation of collectivism, an engine for the grand Chollima march, optimism about future and faith in the victory of socialism, they pointed out, and continued: The artistes succeeded in making a novel and peculiar representation by fully reflecting the reality in that period through a good combination of merry laughs and witty and nimble humors. It is thanks to the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Il that the "echo of mountain" in the era of Chollima which rocked the whole country in the 1960s has reechoed through the whole country as an echo for a great surge in the drive for building a thriving nation. |
