Present there on invitation were Vice Foreign Minister Borodavkin and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Itar-Tass News Agency and the Ria-Novosti of Russia.

Charge d'Affaires a.i. O Sung Ho and staff members of the DPRK embassy in Moscow were present there.

The participants first looked round the photos showing the Korean people bringing about miracles and innovations in the building of a great prosperous and powerful nation under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Speeches were made there.

O Sung Ho referred to the fact that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Russia 62 years ago marked an event of great significance in developing the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples in various fields, adding that since the establishment of diplomatic relations the two countries have positively developed the friendly and cooperative ties in political, economic and cultural and all other fields in conformity with the desire and wishes of their peoples.

Noting that it is the consistent stand of the DPRK government to invariably boost the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries according to the spirit of the DPRK-Russia joint documents and the inter-state treaty, he reiterated the will to make positive efforts to do so.

Borodavkin recalled that the Russo-DPRK diplomatic relations were established on Oct. 12, 1948, noting that thanks to the concerted efforts the mutually-beneficial relations would display fresh vitality in political, economic, cultural, scientific and various other fields in the future, too.

Russia has consistently stood for peace and security and a political solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, he said, sincerely hoping that the difficulties lying in the way of the inter-Korean relations would be overcome by the efforts of the Korean people themselves.
