Kim Jong Il Lays Wreaths before Cemetery of CPV

Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, together with secretaries of the WPK Central Committee and members of the Party Central Military Commission Tuesday laid wreaths before the grave of Mao Anying, son of Mao Zedong, the great leader of the Chinese people, and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the Chinese People's Volunteers in Hoechang County on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the entry of the CPV into the Korean front. Accompanying him were Ri Yong Ho, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the WPK Central Military Commission, Kim Yong Chun, member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok and Hong Sok Hyong, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the WPK Central Committee, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC, Kim Jong Gak, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and first vice director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, Kim Yong Il, Kim Yang Gon, Pak To Chun, Choe Ryong Hae , Thae Jong Su and Kim Phyong Hae, alternate members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, Mun Kyong Dok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK who doubles as chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, Ju Kyu Chang, alternate member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, U Tong Chuk, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and member of the WPK Central Military Commission, Kim Myong Guk, Kim Kyong Ok, Kim Won Hong, Jong Myong Do, Ri Pyong Chol, Kim Yong Chol and Yun Jong Rin, members of the WPK Central Military Commission. A guard of honor of the three services of the KPA and a guard of honor of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards lined up before the cemetery. Amidst the wreath-laying music after the national anthems of China and the DPRK were played, Kim Jong Il together with the senior officials of the party and army who accompanied him laid wreaths before the grave of Mao Anying and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the CPV and paid silent tribute to the fallen fighters of the CPV. Then he went round the grave of Mao Anying and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the CPV. Recollecting with deep emotion the great feats and merits performed by the brave fighters of the CPV during the past Fatherland Liberation War, he said that the noble self-sacrificing spirit and militant friendship displayed by the fallen fighters of the CPV would be always remembered by the Korean people. The mountains and plains of Korea are associated with the blood shed by the brave fighters of the CPV and they convey their noble feats and soul, he noted, underscoring the need to take good care of the cemeteries of the fallen fighters of the CPV who laid down their lives for the common cause so that their shining exploits might go down in history forever. |
