S. Korean Military Authorities' Illegal Move to Increase Military Spending Flayed
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Confederation of Trade Unions and other civic and public organizations grouping people of various circles in south Korea held the 106th meeting for peace and disarmament in Seoul on Oct. 26.

Speakers at the meeting recalled that the defense budget proposal for next year submitted by the military authorities to the "National Assembly" is the biggest in history as it showed a 5.8 percent increase over that for this year.

They charged that the proposal includes many illegal financial allocations such as expenses for boosting the south Korea-U.S. combined defence capability, expenses for improving the military facilities and those for building amusement facilities to be used by officers and specified persons.

What merits a serious attention is that it also includes a budget for building a depot for stockpiling reserve ammunitions needed for carrying out a scenario for mounting a preemptive attack upon the north, they noted, and went on:

The above-said facts go to prove that Lee Myung Bak and the "Grand National Party's" trumpeting that the budget for 2011 was shaped for the sake of a "fair society" and the common people is no more than hypocrisy.

They urged the military authorities to retract the illegal move to increase the military spending and the NA to pay heed to the demand of the people.
