Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification released a statement on Oct. 29 in which it urged the puppet authorities to stop their harsh crackdown upon the reunification movement organizations. The statement disclosed that the Defense Security Command searched the house of the vice-chairwoman of the Ansan City Committee of the Democratic Labor Party over her husband's career in reunification movement by invoking the "Security Law" and that the Security Investigation Group made inquires about Ri Thae Hyong, co-executive chairman of the Inchon Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration. The present regime's crackdown upon members of the progressive organizations is intended to totally eliminate the pro-reunification democratic forces, it pointed out. The statement warned that the present authorities, who have surpassed the successive dictatorial regimes in fascist suppression, would meet shower of revenge from the people. The collapse of Lee Myung Bak and the "Grand National Party" is inevitable, it said, adding that the progressive forces and other people would surely punish the fascist regime by the united efforts of the Korean nation. Meanwhile the Media Headquarters and the Academic Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration made public a joint statement on the same day, denouncing the puppet authorities' crackdown on the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration. The statement accused the security authorities of having searched the houses of former and incumbent members of the Solidarity and detained its Executive Chairman Mun Kyong Hwan and intensifying such crackdown. Lurking behind the successive suppression of the security authorities is a sinister intention to create terror-ridden atmosphere among the people and quell their growing desire for reunification, the statement said. |
