Present there were teaching staff of the school, students and graduates from the class and Wu Donghe, chairman of the Sino-Korea Friendship Association.

Present there on invitation were Ji Jae Ryong, DPRK ambassador to China, and a friendly delegation led by Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, on a visit to China to attend the celebrations of the anniversary.

A gift sent by General Secretary Kim Jong Il to the school was conveyed at the event.

Also handed there were a congratulatory message of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association and a silk banner of the Mao Zedong Class of East Pyongyang Secondary School No. 1.

Speeches were made by the principal of Beijing Middle School No. 5, the principal of East Pyongyang Secondary School No. 1, a representative of the students of the Kim Il Sung Class and a representative of the graduates from it and a representative of the students of the Mao Zedong Class at the event.

Speakers said that it is of particularly weighty significance to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the naming of the class at a time when the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and China reached a fresh high stage under the deep care of the top leaders of the two countries.

They expressed their determination to always consolidate and develop generation after generation the DPRK-China friendship, a precious legacy provided and bequeathed by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries.

Then followed an art performance given by students of Beijing Middle School No. 5.

A friendly meeting took place at the DPRK embassy in Beijing on the occasion of the said anniversary on the same day.
