Present there were members of the Presidium, the Central Committee and the Secretariat of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon, members of the North Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, members of the North Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance of Youth and Students for Korea's Reunification and officials concerned.

The meeting reviewed the activities of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon and discussed its future tasks.

A report was made at the meeting. The reporter stressed that it is thanks to the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il that Pomminryon has dynamically advanced along the road of independent reunification, leaving remarkable traces in the history of the nation.

Pomminryon will as ever conduct the vigorous struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, strengthen the solidarity of compatriots in the north and the south and overseas and thus positively contribute to bringing a new phase for the independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the nation, the reporter said.

The primary task facing all Koreans at present is to frustrate the pro-American and treacherous moves of the south Korean conservative ruling quarters for confrontation with fellow countrymen, he said, stressing the need for Pomminryon to stand in the van of this struggle.

He said that Pomminryon should strengthen solidarity with All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration and actively conduct joint struggle of various forms with organizations of different circles, domains and regions, thus giving a powerful impetus to the patriotic movement for reunification.

Then speeches were made before a decision was adopted.

The meeting discussed a draft joint resolution of the North, South and Overseas Headquarters of Pomminryon to be announced on the occasion of its 20th birthday.

At the meeting there was a by-election for some of members of the Presidium and the Central Committee of the North Headquarters.

Vice-Chairman Kang Ji Yong was elected chairman of the headquarters.
