Pomminryon was formed on Nov. 20, Juche 79 (1990) thanks to the positive support and encouragement of all the Koreans at home and abroad. It is a patriotic organization of the reunification movement whose mission is to achieve national reunification on the basis of the three principles -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- and which represents the will of all the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas for their unity and reunification.

Rodong Sinmun says: The formation of Pomminryon helped the pro-reunification patriotic forces at home and abroad unite close under the banner of national reunification and the reunification movement which had been waged in the north and the south and overseas separately develop into a nationwide joint movement on an organized basis.

Pomminryon has grown to be a reunification movement organization with a well-regulated organizational system such as regional headquarters and branches in all the places of the north and the south and overseas where Koreans live and a popular organization grouping Koreans from all walks of life. It has creditably performed its mission and role by dynamically organizing and mobilizing all the Koreans for the struggle for great national unity and national reunification under the uplifted banner of the three charters for national reunification and the five-point policy for great national unity.

It has energetically explained and disseminated the validity and vitality of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and the necessity to implement them and dynamically aroused all the Koreans at home and abroad to their implementation.

It has boosted solidarity among the north and south and overseas sides and stirred up the fellow countrymen's enthusiasm for reunification and made a great contribution to strengthening the driving force for national reunification through the reconciliation and unity of the nation.

Minju Joson stresses that the patriotic cause of Pomminryon dynamically advancing under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration amidst the positive support and encouragement of all the Koreans will surely be crowned with victory.
