Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the Ryongyon Seaside Fish Farm and the Ryongjong Fish Breeding Ground. The officials and employees of the farm succeeded in acclimatizing sturgeon and various other species of freshwater fishes to seawater for the first time in Korea. The first leg of his guidance was the Ryongyon Seaside Fish Farm. After being briefed on the farm before a large picture showing its panoramic view, he made the rounds of vast aquiculture tanks built in tiers and fish breeding ground to acquaint himself in detail with the construction and fish breeding. Commanding a bird's-eye view of the fish ponds kept in good shape and the fish breeding ground which looks like a park, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that soldier-builders completed the huge project for rebuilding them on an expansion basis and briskly conducting the work for creating a good environment in a matter of less than one year by fully displaying the revolutionary soldier spirit, radically changing the appearance of the fish breeding ground. Watching various fish ponds teeming with sturgeon, sea bass, genuine porgy, rock fish, rainbow trout, char and other fishes, he was pleased that the party members and other workers of the fish breeding ground have put the fish breeding on a scientific and technological basis, boosting the fish production in a planned way every year and mass-producing delicious fishes for the people. He appreciated their efforts. Once again highly praising the fish farm for having proved the truth in practice that sturgeon goes to sea and the DPRK advances into the world in hearty response to the Party's call for pushing back the frontiers of the latest science and technology, he noted with pride that the spectacular reality that unfolded at this fish farm is a striking demonstration of the validity and vitality of the WPK's idea that he who says impossible is not speaking Korean. It is a signal success that the officials and technicians of the fish breeding ground, in particular, rapidly increased the fish production in hearty response to the Party's policy for bringing about a signal turn in fish breeds, he said. And he once again highly praised them for having made a great contribution to the development of the fish breeding. Noting that if sturgeon and other species of fishes are bred in seawater, they are not only delicious and high in their nutrition but very high in their profitability, he called on the units in the coastal areas to earnestly follow the experience of the fish breeding ground. The next leg of his guidance was the Ryongjong Fish Breeding Ground. After commanding a bird's-eye view of the picturesque fish breeding ground from an observation platform, he went round various fish ponds, a protein-rich feed production centre and other places of the fish breeding ground to learn in detail about its construction and fish breeding there. After walking round fish ponds kept neat and tidy along the waterway running from the Ryongjong Spring, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that soldier-builders built the modern fish breeding ground at such a high level that it is impeccable in any aspect by fully displaying the revolutionary spirit of the self-reliance and fortitude. He was very pleased to see very fat sturgeons each weighing at least one hundred kilograms and many rainbow trouts, attractive chars and rare fishes that may serve as elixir in the clean fish ponds, saying that a precious asset has been secured for making a leap forward in the efforts to improve the standard of people's living. Noting that the Ryongjong Fish Breeding Ground is the most suitable for fish breeding as it abounds in water source and is good in its water quality, he stressed that it is the fish breeding ground desired by the party and is capable of giving substantial benefit to the people as it is profitable and equipped with cutting-edge facilities. Modern fish breeding grounds have sprung up in different parts of the country to make a positive contribution to improving the standard of people's living, he noted, advancing highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines for developing the nation's fish breeding. Noting that the DPRK has favorable conditions for conducting fish breeding and aquatic culture anywhere as it is determined because it is a maritime country bounded on three sides by seas, he earnestly called on all the units in the coastal areas to energetically conduct shallow-sea fish breeding and aquatic culture to suit their specific conditions in hearty response to the party’s fishery policy. The DPRK has favorable conditions for breeding fish in a big way as it abounds in rivers, lakes, springs and hot springs, he said, calling for bringing about a new turn in fish breeding by conducting the work as a widespread mass movement. Saying that fish breeds are essential for fish breeding as is the case with agriculture and stock breeding, he underlined the need to positively study and develop and breed fishes of good stock which grow fast while consuming less feed. In order to increase the effectiveness in fish breeding it is good to breed species of fishes at different levels of water, taking into consideration the physiological character of fishes, he said, underscoring the need to make a three-dimensional use of the area of fish breeding grounds. He also underlined the need to intensify the scientific research and steadily boost the role of the breeders and technicians for the purpose of increasing the fish production. In order to rapidly develop the fish breeding it is necessary to settle in an indigenous manner scientific and technological issues arising in the field of fish breeding and, at the same time, positively introduce the advanced breeding method, he pointed out. As a solid material and technological foundation has been laid for fish breeding, it is easy anywhere to breed fishes, if officials minutely organize the work, he said, ardently calling for briskly breeding fishes in a mass movement to supply greater quantities of fish to the people at an early date. He was accompanied by Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok and Hong Sok Hyong, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC, Thae Jong Su, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and KPA Generals Kim Won Hong, Kim Myong Guk, Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and other senior officials of the party and the army. |
