Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Ryongho Duck Farm. The farm is another treasure of the country which has been created thanks to the popular policies of the WPK which regards it as the supreme principle of its activities to promote the well-being of the people. After commanding a bird's-eye view of the farm from an observation platform, he went round the exterior and interior of the farm to learn in detail about its construction. He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that builders have successfully built the modern farm in a matter of a little over six months. Ryongyon County, South Hwanghae Province, witnessed such great change as the appearance of a large duck production centre thanks to the devoted drive of its people, he noted, adding that this signal turn clearly proves the inexhaustible strength and indomitable mental power of the people in our era who transform both society and nature as required by Juche. Noting that another structure to be handed down to posterity along with the Songun era appeared on the land of the country witnessing one miracle and feat after another thanks to the devoted struggle of the party members and other working people in the county, he highly praised them for shedding beads of sweat in devoting themselves to the prosperity of the country and happiness of its people. The Ryongho Duck Farm which successfully meets the need of the new century was built at such high level of quality in all aspects ranging from its designing to its construction that it may stand impeccable even in the distant future, he noted, adding that this praiseworthy creation is a valuable fruition of the noble patriotic desire of the Korean people to build their land by themselves as well as others. Many structures are springing up everywhere thanks to the heroic drive of the Korean people to speed up the general march for the Songun revolution, upholding the slogan "The DPRK can do anything when it is determined!", he said, emphasizing that the praiseworthy patriotic devotion made by the Korean people for building a rich and powerful country would be brilliantly recorded in the history of building a thriving nation. It is important to bring the production on a high level as early as possible now that the modern duck farm has been built, he said, specifying the tasks to be fulfilled by the farm to manage and operate itself. Pointing out that such modern duck, chicken and cattle farms as this farm were built in various places, true to the intention of the party to provide an adequate quantities of meat and eggs to the Korean people, he underscored the need for the existing stock-breeding centres to steadily increase the production by putting breeding on a scientific and technological basis and called for successfully completing the farms now under construction as structures of eternal value to hand a thriving socialist nation to posterity. The construction of highly productive and modern stock-farming bases and catfish and fish breeding grounds and duck and pig farms based on the latest science and technology in recent years made it possible to provide bountiful diet to the people, he noted. In order to provide the people with good diet it is necessary to bring about a signal turn in stock-breeding including poultry, he pointed out, stressing the need to scientize and modernize the production processes of all farms and positively research, develop and raise superior breeds which grow faster and weigh heavier than ordinary ones. In order to keep the production of meat and eggs going at a high rate it is necessary to build strong feed centers for increased production, he said, underlining the need to keep the operation of the modern organic compound fertilizer factory using excretion of domestic animals on a normal footing to greatly help towards the grain production. It is an inexorable law to develop stock breeding for the purpose of boosting the grain production and increase the grain yield in order to lift animal products, he noted, calling for mass-producing organic compound fertilizer, one of the important elements of the circling ring to develop agriculture and stock breeding simultaneously. Recalling that the production bases built by the Korean people with much effort are going in full gear, substantially contributing to the economic development and the improvement of the standard of people's living, he emphasized that this signal turn clearly proves the validity and vitality of the economic strategy of the WPK which has reinforced the production foundations step by step. He earnestly called on all fields and units to dynamically wage the drive to develop the stock breeding in a big way as a mass movement to bring a richer and highly civilized life to the Korean people. He was accompanied by Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok and Hong Sok Hyong, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, and Thae Jong Su, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK. |
