Present there on invitation were a delegation of Pyongyang City on a visit to Laos and officials of the DPRK embassy in Vientiane.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

Tong Yeu Tho, member of the C.C., the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and standing vice-chairman of the C.C., the National Construction Front of Laos who is chairman of the association, said that friendship between Laos and the DPRK is developing under the deep care of the leaders of the two countries with each passing day.

He went on to say:

We warmly congratulate the friendly Korean people on their signal achievements made in the efforts to build a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation true to the behest of President Kim Il Sung under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

We are sure that the Korean people would realize the independent and peaceful reunification of the country without fail under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the WPK and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.

I, on behalf of the Laos-Korea Friendship Association and the Lao people, express deep thanks to the party, the state and the people of the DPRK for having constantly supported our struggle for the national liberation and the defence and building of the country.

We hope that the relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the parties, states and peoples of the two countries would remain stable forever.

At the end of the meeting a performance was given by Lao artistes.
