General Secretary Kim Jong Il initiated the movement in November Juche 64 (1975) when the Korean revolution ushered in a new historical turning point in line with the program of modeling the whole of society on the Juche idea. The torch of the movement was kindled by the workers of Komdok and the peasants of Chongsan-ri.

The movement for a fresh development in the ideological, technical and cultural fields rapidly embraced all people, domains and units, including industrial establishments and cooperative farms throughout the country.

Over the past 35 years, some 29 790 units won the three-revolution red flag and nearly three million people became three-revolution standard-bearers in the country, strikingly demonstrating the great vitality, validity and impetus of the movement.

Through the movement, signal successes have been made in all fields of the revolution and construction, single-hearted unity achieved between the leader and the masses and the whole society turned into a large harmonious family.

Industrial production systems based on locally available raw materials have been established, modernly-equipped crop-raising, stockbreeding, fish and fruit farms have appeared throughout the country and the scientific and technological field has witnessed a great progress.

Such achievements have also been recorded in literature and arts, sports, public health and land management.
